# Context dumps (llmcpp) **Context dumps** expose the compiler's task information without generating an implementation. The generation-budget example can be inspected directly: ```bash $ llmc++ \ -fllm-dump-context \ examples/17_generation_limits.cpp ``` The example defines `passing(const std::vector&)` with `max_attempts(2)` and `timeout(120)`. The dump lets you inspect its interface, request, and effective settings before contacting a backend. The option selects all annotated targets and stops without generation or normal compilation. A function-level `dump_context` setting selects individual targets. Use this when an agent appears to misunderstand available parameters, return behavior, or captures. A dump shows the task environment; [[llmcpp-generated-source-output|generated-source output]] shows the implementation eventually accepted. These answer different questions.
